Two people were arrested at a weekend sobriety checkpoint in Riverside, police said.

State Police were joined by members of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office and Southampton Town police on Sunrise Highway eastbound at the Southampton rest area near Exit 65 for the checkpoint from 10:30 p.m. Friday to 2:30 a.m. Saturday, State Police said in a news release. The officers checked 460 vehicles, according to the news release.

A New York City woman, 44, was charged with driving while intoxicated, and a Sag Harbor man, 31, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, police said.

Both are scheduled to appear in Southampton Town Court, police said.

“The New York State Police will continue to combat impaired driving by teaming up with our local law enforcement partners,” Maj. David C. Candelaria, Troop L commander, said in a statement. “This multiagency checkpoint is only the start of many more to come.”
