Two West Babylon residents have pleaded guilty to federal charges of scamming an upstate mortgage lending company out of $1.2 million, prosecutors said.

Angelo Louissaint, 42, and Jennifer Johnson, 41, pleaded guilty in federal court in the Western District of New York to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud, prosecutors said.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Rochester said Louissaint and Johnson prepared false mortgage applications in the names of straw buyers for five properties in the New York City area and used bogus supporting documents they presented to Flaherty Funding, a Rochester firm.

Officials say Louissaint and Johnson worked with a third person to obtain $1.2 million in loans from Flaherty Funding in Rochester. Prosecutors say another $900,000 in loans sought by the trio were never approved.

Louissaint and Johnson are scheduled to be sentenced July 12.
