Authorities are investigating an incident in the Bronx in which two men were injured when they were hit by a shopping cart that had apparently been pushed off an upper floor of a parking garage outside a store.

The case is reminiscent of an October prank that left a woman brain-damaged after two boys pushed a shopping cart over a ledge.

Monday's incident happened about 5:30 p.m. near an entrance to a Home Depot store not far from Yankee Stadium. Police said a 30-year-old man was in stable condition and a 52-year-old was in critical condition. No suspects were in custody, but police said they were reviewing surveillance video at the Gateway shopping center.

"There was a gash on his forehead, you could literally see his skull," one witness told NY1 news. "I just ran in, grabbed his hand, tried to comfort him as much as I can, but the second one was not conscious at all."
