2 pizza deliverymen robbed in 3-hour span
Two deliverymen from the same Domino's Pizza store in Freeport were robbed in separate incidents less than three hours apart Wednesday and Thursday, police said.
Nassau County police would not say if the cases might be connected. A handgun was used in both cases.
In the first robbery, the victim, 55, was making a delivery from Domino's at 93 W. Merrick Rd. to an address on Queen Street in Freeport at 9:25 p.m. Wednesday. An assailant approached the deliveryman, demanded food and money and hit him. A second assailant, who was armed, got out of a dark-colored vehicle and began striking the deliveryman with the gun. Police said the victim told them a third man was also present.
One of the assailants also stole the deliveryman's car keys and tried to take his car, but was unsuccessful, police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where police said he was treated and released.
The second robbery took place about a mile away about 2 1/2 hours after the first, said police. The victim, 59, was making a delivery to Coolidge Place in Freeport at 12:05 a.m. Thursday, police said.
A man wearing a baseball cap approached the victim with a handgun and demanded money. The deliveryman handed over money and food and the robber fled.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
