Nassau County police released a surveillance image of one of the men they are seeking in connection with the beating and robbery of a North Merrick car salesman on Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at 6:15 p.m. Credit: NCPD

Nassau County police are looking for a third man and a red car in connection with an armed robbery Tuesday of a North Merrick car dealership.

Police said late Thursday the third suspect pretended to look at cars in the lot of Jerusalem Auto, 1345 Jerusalem Ave., attempting to distract the salesman.

This allowed the other two suspects, including one with a handgun, to hide inside the dealership until the salesman returned, police said.

Police also on Thursday released photographs taken from video surveillance of the third suspect and red a car they think was used in the robbery.

The two men inside wore black ski masks and hoods when they struck the salesman on the head with an unknown object at about 6:15 p.m., threw him to the ground, took his cash, wallet and wristwatch, and then fled, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital for a cut to the face; he was treated and released.

Anyone with more information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477 or the First Squad at 516-573-6153. All information will be kept confidential.
