7 charged in drug sweep on eastern LI

Prosecutors on Long Island have announced the arrests of seven people on charges they sold or possessed Ketamine, an animal tranquilizer.

Two of the suspects were charged with operating as major traffickers, part of a new law enacted last year.

An 18-month investigation uncovered evidence the group watered down a kilogram of Ketamine, also known as "Special K," worth $4,000, turning it into $400,000 in street sales.

Experts say the drug is snorted, injected or mixed in a liquid and consumed for its hallucinogenic properties.

Prosecutors say it is popular in dance clubs, but also used by body builders.
