Nine people were arrested by Suffolk County police officers at a sobriety checkpoint in Patchogue overnight Friday into Saturday.

Officers from the Highway Patrol Bureau stopped 617 vehicles at the checkpoint that was set up at Waverly Plaza on Sunrise Highway North Service Road from 11:30 p.m. Friday to 3:30 a.m. Saturday, police said in a news release.

Among those arrested were residents of Brookhaven, Albany, Patchogue, Brentwood, Brooklyn, Islip, Dix Hills, West Islip and Kissimmee, Florida — charged with either driving while intoxicated or driving while ability impaired by alcohol — and ranged in age from 20 to 57, police said.

They were all scheduled for arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip Saturday morning.
