A Huntington man who fought with officers was arrested six months after he broke free from them during an East Hills home burglary, Nassau police said.

Rony Compere, 43, is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday on first-degree burglary and second-degree burglary charges.

On Dec. 5, officers responding to a home burglary alarm on Wildwood Lane found Compere hiding in a bedroom, police said. When they tried to arrest him, police said, he attempted to take a gun from one officer.

The three continued struggling until Compere, described as stocky and at least 6 foot tall, broke free and ran away, police said.

Both officers were injured and one of them was treated at a hospital, police said.
