A Manhasset man fractured the leg of a 94-year-old man when he pushed him to the ground outside a store in Great Neck Plaza, Nassau County police said.

The assault took place about 12:05 p.m. Sunday in front of Best Market on Great Neck Road, police said.

Daryl Wright, 39, of Manor Drive, “became irrational” and “engaged himself in a verbal argument with a 94-year-old man and violently pushed the victim to the ground,” police said in a news release.

Witnesses gave a description of Wright’s vehicle to responding officers, who arrested him a short distance away, police said.

He was awaiting arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead on charges of assault and several vehicle and traffic violations, police said.

The victim was treated at a hospital for a fractured femur, police said.
