A Westbury man was charged with assault after hitting two people with his car during a dispute over a parking space Sunday in Mineola, Nassau County police said.
Anthony Scott, 37, got involved in the dispute with another driver, that driver’s passenger, and another person at 4:55 p.m. on Jericho Turnpike near Mineola Boulevard, police said.
There was “a brief physical altercation” and Scott got in his car and drove at two of the people, police said.
A 52-year-old woman fell off the hood of Scott’s car and it ran over her legs, police said.
A 38-year-old man grabbed the windshield wiper of the car before he fell off, suffering a head and neck injury, police said.
Both victims were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
Officers were able to get the license number of Scott’s car and arrested him at his home on Parkwood Road, where he was found in possession of “various controlled substances, including THC, Alprazolam and Oxycodone,” police said,
Scott was awaiting arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead on charges of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and leaving the scene of an accident involving an injury, police said.
