An ATM found in a Deer Park trash container Tuesday afternoon is being examined by authorities to determine whether it is the same money machine taken during a burglary at a deli in Baywood, Suffolk County police said.

Police said Chubby’s Deli on Pine Aire Drive was burglarized at about 2:35 a.m. Tuesday and an automated teller machine was stolen. The deli was closed at the time.

Authorities were seen examining an ATM at the scene behind 44 Jefryn Blvd. in Deer Park after discovering it around 9:45 a.m.

The question of whether the ATM that was found is the machine from the burglary is “under investigation,” a police spokesman said at about 2 p.m. Tuesday. Police provided no further details about the burglary or the discovery of the ATM.
