Nassau County police detectives are searching for a knife-wielding man who tried to hold up a 7-Eleven early Tuesday in Farmingdale.
Police said no one was injured and the suspect fled the scene without any proceeds.
The attempted robbery at the store on Main Street was reported at 2:30 a.m.
Police said the suspect, wearing a blue hoodie, dark pants and gloves, entered the store, selected several items, then approached the 60-year-old male clerk at the counter, where he flashed a six-inch knife and demanded the man open the register.
It was not clear what caused the suspect to flee.
Second Squad detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
