A male pointed a gun at a woman early Saturday morning in Roosevelt during an attempted robbery before fleeing in a getaway vehicle, Nassau County police said.

The incident occurred about 4:40 a.m. on Monroe Avenue, police said in a statement.

The would-be robber , described as having a medium build and standing about 6-feet-2, wore a black hoodie, police said. He approached a 30-year-old woman and pointed a black handgun at her, cops said. The woman then fell to the ground and started screaming, which prompted her boyfriend to open the door of their home and come outside, police said.

The would-be robber  then fled by jumping into the passenger side of a gray Nissan SUV with an unknown Pennsylvania license plate, cops said. The vehicle was last seen northbound on St. Francis Street, police said.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-244-TIPS.
