A four-month-old baby was left alone in a car parked outside a Valley Stream Walmart on Monday, and his mother has been charged with child endangerment, Nassau police said.

Police said a witness saw the baby in the car, at the Walmart on Green Acres Road West, around 4:21 p.m. When officers arrived, they observed the baby was in a rear seat of the car, which was locked and running, police said.

Officers unlocked the car and took out the baby, who was evaluated by a Nassau County police medic, police said.

Meanwhile, police said about an hour after an announcement was made in the Walmart, the baby's mother, Treisha Clark, 41, of Rosedale, Queens, returned to the car.

Clark was arrested and charged. She is to be arraigned Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

It was not immediately clear if she was represented by counsel.

The baby was placed in the custody of a family member, police said.
