Nassau County police are trying to determine whether the same two masked men are responsible for armed robberies late Thursday of a Baldwin delicatessen and a Lakeview takeout restaurant.
A department spokesman Friday morning said police think the two, about an hour apart, could be related.
No one was injured in either robbery, police said.
The suspects made off with unspecified amounts of cash in each robbery, plus a laptop computer from the deli.
Detectives said employees of the United Deli, at 590 W. Seaman Ave. in Baldwin, were closing at 9:19 p.m. when the two suspects forced them back inside the building.
One of the suspects, who had a black handgun, demanded that a male employee, 23, open the cash register, police said.
The employee complied and placed the cash and a laptop in the suspect’s backpack; both suspects then ran off south on Pine Street, police said.
The other employees were a man, 19, and two women, ages 32 and 25, police said.
At about 10:32 p.m., two men “with their faces covered” also robbed the Lees Garden Takeout, at 1015 Woodfield Rd.
One suspect, armed with a silver handgun, climbed over the counter and demanded cash, police said. An employee, a man, 36, opened the register and the suspect took an unspecified amount of cash.
Police said the two suspects then drove off south on Woodfield Road in a black Honda Civic.
Another employee, a man, 48, also was in the building at the time of the robbery.
In the Baldwin robbery, both masked men were described as in their mid 20s and wearing dark hooded sweatshirts and gloves, police said. One suspect also wore pink striped pants and had a blue backpack.
In the Lakeview robbery, one suspect wore a red hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and black sneakers, the other a dark hooded sweatshirt.
