A couple was shot in their Bay Shore apartment Saturday night by a man who entered their bedroom, Suffolk County police said Sunday.

Jerome Ruddock, 28, and Mia Anderson, 20, were in their apartment on Hemlock Drive in the Lexington Village Condo Apartments at about 10:45 p.m. when a man with a gun came into their bedroom and began firing at them.

They were taken by Brentwood Legion Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

It’s unclear how the suspect entered the apartment, a police spokeswoman said Sunday, but there were no signs of forced entry.

Both the motive, and whether the suspect knew the two victims, is under investigation, the spokeswoman said.

Police don’t have any surveillance video of the suspect at the scene, police said.

Detectives said anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Third Squad at 631-854-8352 or call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.
