Suffolk County police investigate a fatal shooting on Holbrook Street in Bay Shore early Saturday morning. Credit: Paul Mazza

A man was found fatally shot in a church parking lot in Bay Shore early Saturday, Suffolk County police said.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired in a parking lot on Holbrook Street shortly before 1 a.m., police said. There, they discovered Linver Ortiz-Ponce, 29, who had been shot. 

Ortiz-Ponce, of Ronkonkoma, was declared dead at the scene. 

Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call the homicide squad at 631-852-6392 or call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
