A man was shot Wednesday night in Bay Shore and hospitalized in critical condition, Suffolk police said.

The shooting happened in the parking lot of a Hemlock Drive apartment complex about 7:25 p.m., police said.

One resident there said she was getting ready to eat and watch television around that time when she heard one or two loud noises that vibrated in her apartment.

“I heard a sound and a door slam hard,” the woman said by phone.

A photo from the scene showed police tape outside the apartment complex, which appeared to be a two-story building.

No suspect was in custody, police said.

Other details were not immediately available as Third Precinct detectives remained at the scene late at night to gather evidence.
