Windows on more than 20 vehicles were shattered by pellets evidently from BB gun in Bay Shore from late Tuesday to Wednesday morning, Suffolk police said.

“The total so far is in excess of 20 vehicles, all broken windows, and it appears they were shot out by a BB gun,” a police spokeswoman said.

The investigation was launched after the criminal mischief was reported; the police received eight separate calls between 11:25 p.m. and 7:30 a.m.

Two incidents were on Manatuck Boulevard, another two on Penataquit Drive. Other incidents were on Smith Street, Montauk Drive and Fifth Avenue.
