According to a police report, the crash happened at 8:15 p.m. while Murphy was driving a 1996 Ford Taurus that was initially traveling westbound on Bayville Avenue and then reversed at a high rate of speed, striking two pedestrians.

Police said a male victim, 54, suffered a laceration to his elbow and a female victim, 52, suffered fractures to her lower body. Both victims were transported to a hospital to be treated.

Murphy’s bail was set at $35,000 cash or bond after his arraignment Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
