A 23-year-old Bellmore man stopped for speeding Tuesday evening on the Southern State Parkway was arrested and charged with felony drunken driving after police said his breath sample showed he had a 0.10 percent blood-alcohol content.
State Police said Michael Fedowich also had an open can of beer on the front seat of his white Dodge and a bag containing marijuana in the car and has a prior conviction for driving while intoxicated within the past 10 years. Additionally, police said he was not using a required interlock device that was a term of that conviction.
Police said troopers had stopped Fedowich near Exit 25, Newbridge Road, for going 89 mph in a 55-mph zone at 6:20 p.m.
He was charged with felony DWI, which means he has at least one conviction in the past 10 years, as well as felony aggravated unlicensed operation, using a vehicle without an interlock device, unlawful possession of marijuana and traffic violations.
He is scheduled for arraignment April 8 in First District Court in Hempstead.
