Nassau County police said they found “a large quantity of marijuana” and an illegal handgun in a Bellmore home where they were investigating a robbery Thursday night.
Detectives were probing a robbery at a home on Russell Street when a search of the home at 10 p.m. uncovered the marijuana and a loaded .25 caliber semi-automatic handgun, police said.
Curtis Bishop, 28, whose lives about a mile away on Camp Avenue, said he owned the drugs and gun and was arrested, police said.
Bishop was charged with criminal possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a weapon.
A Nassau police spokeswoman said she did not know how much marijuana was found or where in the home the drugs and gun were uncovered.
Additional details about the suspected robbery were not available, she said.
Bishop’s bail was set at $50,000 cash or bond at his arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead, according to online court records. He is due back in court March 29.
