A 16-year-old Bellmore youth was arrested Tuesday night and charged with third-degree arson in connection with a fire that engulfed a truck early Tuesday morning.

Nassau County police said Angelo Rivera, of 1922 Wilson Ave., was arrested in connection with the fire, which destroyed a truck in a driveway on Broad Street just after midnight.

The blaze occurred at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and was handled by the Bellmore Fire Department.

Arson-Bomb Squad detectives and the Nassau County Fire Marshal's office later determined that the fire was arson and that it started in the truck's interior.

Police said Rivera was arrested at his home "without incident" about 11:15 p.m.

He is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
