A man's body was found on the beach Saturday morning in Sands Point by a local out for a walk, according to the Nassau County Police Department.

The dead man, who was apparently in his 50s, was near 30 Plum Beach Pt. when the walker made the discovery, at about 9:10 a.m., and called 911, the department wrote in a news release.

No further information about the case, which is being investigated by the department's Homicide Squad, was provided, such as how the man may have died and whether the death is suspicious.
