A Bohemia man is facing 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of nearly one kilogram of cocaine and a loaded handgun, according to Suffolk prosecutors.

Christopher Reece, 45, was sentenced Monday by Justice Timothy Mazzei after pleading guilty in August to two felonies: second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

Suffolk Police with a search warrant arrested Reece on Oct. 21, 2021 at his home on Middleton Road in Bohemia. Police recovered 938 grams of cocaine and a loaded .9 mm semi-automatic pistol with two bullet magazines, $7,000 in cash, digital scales and multiple cellphones, prosecutors said.

Police estimated the street value of the cocaine at $90,000, according to prosecutors.

After completion of his prison sentence, Reece faces five years of post-release supervision, prosecutors said.

Reece was previously convicted three times — in 2014, 2004 and 1998, of attempted possession and sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a loaded firearm.

“This conviction represents the fourth time that this defendant has been found to have either been selling dangerous drugs and/or possessing illegal weapons,” said Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney in a news release. “Enough is enough. He needs to be held responsible for his actions and serve a significant sentence.”
