Brentwood driver accused of plowing through yard, fleeing cops
A Brentwood man plowed into a yard and fence on Oakland Street and then tried to flee the scene early Thursday, Suffolk County police said.
Jonathan Vercillo, 44, is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and resisting arrest after the 12:12 a.m. crash in Brentwood, police said.
An officer tried to pull over Vercillo’s 2012 Jeep on Arthur Street, three blocks from where he drove into a yard and damaged a fence, according to police.
Vercillo drove away but then stopped a few minutes later, police said.
He then tried to resist arrest, police said.
Vercillo also faces a petty larceny charge in the theft of a cellphone in February, police said.
