Arrest in Father's Day barbecue shooting in Brentwood

U.S. Marshals arrested a Brentwood man Tuesday in connection with a shooting at a Father’s Day barbecue, Suffolk police said.

Police said Jose Quezada, 30, was arrested at 6:40 a.m. in Washington Heights by the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Quezada was accused of shooting a 35-year-old man in the neck June 21 at about 8 p.m. at a barbecue held at a Ellery Street home in Brentwood, police said. The victim was hospitalized and later released.

Quezada was charged with second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He will be held overnight at the Suffolk Police Third Precinct in Bay Shore and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday morning in First District Court in Central Islip.

He did not have a defense attorney listed in court records.
