Bronx man sold forged concert tickets, police say

Nassau police on Monday arrested a Bronx man who they said sold phony concert tickets last month to a woman he had met online through Craigslist.com.

Theo Cooke, 25, of Webster Avenue, is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on four counts of second-degree possession of a forged instrument and petty larceny at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.

His attorney could not be reached for comment.

Third Squad detectives said Cooke arranged to meet the 22-year-old victim in Williston Park on April 27, where he sold her four tickets for $900. But the victim, becoming suspicious, called Ticketmaster and was advised that the tickets were bogus, police said.

She reported the incident to detectives, who, along with NYPD officers, helped her friend arrange a second meeting in Bayside three days later under the guise of purchasing more tickets.

NYPD officers arrested Cooke when he tried to complete the transaction again and turned him over to Nassau law enforcement officers on Monday, Nassau police said.
