Brooklyn man deposited stolen check worth $13G, Nassau cops say

A Brooklyn man was arrested Friday and charged with depositing a stolen check for more than $13,000 at a Bethpage bank in August.
Richard Brathwaite, 24, of East 53rd Street, is accused of using a fraudulent Pennsylvania driver’s license and other fake paperwork to deposit the check at a Bethpage Federal Credit Union on South Oyster Bay Road on Aug. 2 at 2:22 p.m., Nassau police said in a news release.
He was charged with two counts of third-degree grand larceny, three counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, two counts of first-degree falsifying business records, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property and two counts of first-degree identity theft, police said.
Attorney information for Brathwaite, who is scheduled to be arraigned Saturday is First District Court in Hempstead, was not immediately available.
