A Brooklyn man booked an event at a tony Great Neck banquet hall and tried to pay with a fraudulent check after it was held last year, Nassau police said Thursday

Darnell Smith, 28, of Knickerbocker Avenue, was arrested Wednesday and arraigned on charges of third-degree grand larceny and second-degree possession of a forged instrument.

His $12,220.31 check for a June 13, 2015, event at Leonard’s Palazzo was denied because the account number was fake, police said.

Smith’s bail was set at $25,000 cash or bond, according to online court records. It was not clear Thursday night if he had an attorney.
