Nassau men sentenced for home titles scheme, Brooklyn DA says

Two Nassau County men who stole multimillion-dollar homes in Brooklyn and Queens by transferring the titles from often absentee owners were sentenced to prison after pleading guilty, prosecutors said.
Danny Noble, 49, of Baldwin, was sentenced to 4 1/2 to 9 years on Wednesday, according to prosecutors, after pleading guilty to criminal possession of stolen property and conspiracy before Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun on April 27, 2016.
His co-defendant Romelo Grey, 41, of Freeport, was sentenced to 1 1/2 years to 3 years after pleading guilty to falsifying business records on Aug. 16, 2016, prosecutors said.
Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez in a statement said: "In Brooklyn, we take real estate scams very seriously. The houses targeted in this fraud are worth millions of dollars."
After transferring the titles, Noble rented out some of the units and sold others, prosecutors said.
The crimes between June 29, 2010, and March 31, 2015, came to light because a worker at a business owned by one of the houses' real owners saw workers renovating one of the properties and called the owner, prosecutors said.
