A 6-year-old girl was “physically abused” by a day care owner Friday when the child did not want to put on a seat belt in the school bus, Nassau County police said.
The driver of the Huntington Coach was picking up the girl at 8 a.m. from His Word Day Care in Roosevelt when he asked day care owner Carolyn Reid, 73, to intercede with the girl, police said.
A police spokesman said he did not have details on how Reid abused the girl.
When the bus driver arrived at the child’s school, he told school employees about the incident and they called police, authorities said.
The girl was evaluated at a hospital, police said, but no injuries were reported.
Reid was arrested at the day care center location, 33 Maple Dr., which is also her home, police said.
She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and given an appearance ticket of Jan. 25 at First District Court in Hempstead.
