Fraud charges against a jailed financial adviser to the stars now total $59 million.

The new amount was in an indictment filed against Kenneth Starr Thursday in federal court in Manhattan. He has worked for Wesley Snipes, Sylvester Stallone and Martin Scorsese.

Starr, 66, was arrested last month and ordered held without bail on charges that initially put the fraud at $30 million. Also charged was former New York City Council president Andrew Stein.

Prosecutors say Starr stole money in a Ponzi-like scheme from January 2008 through April.

An IRS criminal complaint said Starr cheated clients included a former hedge fund manager. - AP
