Central Islip shooting injures 2 men, Suffolk cops say

Suffolk County police detectives are investigating a shooting on Friday night in Central Islip that left two men injured.
The shooting occurred around 11:40 p.m., a police spokeswoman said, on Rosewood Street, where two suspects, at least one armed with a handgun, approached a group of people and began firing.
One man, 22, of Central Islip, was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore by Central Islip Rescue, police said. The other, a 36-year-old man, was grazed by a bullet and taken to the same hospital, where he was treated and released.
Photos from the scene show officers with long guns scouring the neighborhood, using flashlights to search for evidence and speaking with residents on their doorsteps.
Detectives are investigating a motive, the spokeswoman said. Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
