Central Islip shooting leaves teen boy, woman seriously injured, Suffolk police say

A teen and a woman were shot and seriously injured during a fight in Central Islip on Thursday afternoon, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Two groups of people were near the pool of Hawthorne Living apartment complex when a fight broke out between a boy, 16, and another person. Someone in the group fired several shots at 4:30 p.m., striking the boy and a female bystander, 25, police said in a news release. Two parked vehicles and an apartment door also were hit.
The groups dispersed before the police arrived, according to the news release.
The teen boy was transported in serious condition to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and the woman was taken in serious condition to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, police said.
