Nassau detectives are searching for a masked man who they said tried to rob a Valley Stream bank Tuesday afternoon.

Robbery Squad detectives said a man entered the Chase Bank at 235 Rockaway Ave. at 4:34 p.m. and gave a teller a note demanding cash. The teller refused to comply and the suspect fled on west on West Hawthorne Avenue without any money, police said.

Police said there were five employees and no customers in the bank at the time. The suspect was described as in his mid-20s, standing 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a thin build, wearing a black mask, black jacket and black pants, police said.

Detectives ask anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
