Riverhead police said they were searching for a burglar Sunday night who broke into a Jamesport Mini Mart and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Riverhead police were notified that a security alarm went off at the Jamesport Mini Mart, 1427 Main Rd., and discovered the store’s front glass door had been broken. The store’s owner reported that cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of money were stolen.

Police were unsuccessful in tracking the suspect with the use of a police K-9 and said Sunday they were continuing to investigate the incident.
