Suffolk police have charged a Hauppauge man with robbing a bank in Commack Wednesday while armed with a box cutter.

James Jordan, 53, was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in First District Court in Central Islip on a charge of first-degree robbery, according to police and court records, which list no attorney for Jordan.

Suffolk Major Case detectives said Jordan walked into the Bank of America branch at 41 Veterans Memorial Hwy. at about 1:50 p.m., wielding a box cutter and demanding money.

The teller complied and he left the bank, police said, adding that Fourth Precinct officers caught him a short time later.
