Conn. man charged with fleeing fatal accident

Baruch M. Emmanuel, also known as Baruch Medina, was arrested by New York State Police yesterday for leaving the scene of a fatal accident in Cornwall and charged with a Class D felony.
Emmanuel, 29, of 40 Division Street in Danbury, Ct. was arraigned in the Town of Walkill court and remanded to Orange County Jail in liew of $200,000 cash bail or $400,000 secured bond. He was charged additionally with bail jumping in the third degree, stemming from an outstanding bench warrant for a DWI arrest in Goshen in 2011.
Emmanuel's arrest stemmed from an investigation into the death of Veronica Gutierrez, 24, of 9 Lakes Road in Monroe. Gutierrez was found dead in the roadway at the Quaker Avenue exit ramp off Route 9W South in Cornwall. Police said evidence indicated she was run over.
