Two teenagers were arrested in a machete attack last week on a 36-year-old man in Hempstead, police said Tuesday.

The boys, ages 15 and 14, approached the victim at 3:40 p.m. Thursday at Front Street and Washington Avenue, Nassau County police said.

One of the boys slashed the victim on his left ear and shoulder with a machete before both the juveniles fled on bicycles, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Major case bureau detectives arrested the 15-year-old on the day of the attack and took the 14-year-old into custody Saturday afternoon in Uniondale, police said.

Both teens appeared in Nassau County Family Court to face charges of first-degree assault, second-degree assault and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon, police said.
