Cops: Armed men attempt to rob Malverne Park gas station

Four people attempted to rob a Malverne Park gas station at gunpoint Saturday night, but fled without taking anything, Nassau police said.

The incident occurred at about 10:22 p.m. at a Getty gas station on Hempstead Turnpike.

Police said two women -- one wearing a red tank top -- bought something at the store, then went outside to join two men in front of the gas station. The men, including one who wore a grey hat and carried a handgun, then entered the store and demanded cash from the attendant.

When the attendant told them there was someone else in the store, the men and women left on foot going west on Morris Avenue. No one was injured.
