A Bellmore man driving a pickup truck erratically Saturday on the Southern State Parkway between South Farmingdale and North Amityville was arrested with a blood-alcohol level more than three times the legal limit, State Police said.

Douglas Cress, 62, was pulled over just west of Exit 32, Route 110, on the parkway about 10:33 p.m., after troopers responded to a report of a white pickup swerving in and out of lanes, according to a news release.

Troopers said they saw Cress driving west from Exit 33, Route 109, “swerving into the left and right lanes” several times before making the traffic stop.

Cress failed sobriety tests and was arrested, police said. He also provided a breath-analyzer reading of 0.27 percent; the legal limit is .08 percent.

Cress is charged with DWI and several traffic violations and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Hempstead on March 27.
