Cops: Bay Shore woman arrested after fleeing police, crashing
One woman was arrested and two other suspects are being sought after a pursuit of a stolen minivan Wednesday night in West Babylon that ended with the van crashing into a vehicle and overturning, the two suspects fleeing on foot, police said.
Suffolk County police said the incident occurred at Hubbards Path and the Sunrise Highway service road at 9:05 p.m.
Police said the two suspects who fled are believed to be males.
Faith Allen, 32, of Bay Shore, was arrested as she exited the overturned minivan, police said. Allen was taken to a hospital, where she was examined — and released.
She was charged with the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and was held for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Central Islip, police said.
The driver of the vehicle that the minivan collided with was not identified. He was taken to a hospital for undisclosed injuries; his condition was not known.
Police said an officer on patrol spotted the 2006 Honda Odyssey minivan run a red light on northbound Hubbards Path and initiated a pursuit. But, police said, the van ran a second red light, as the driver attempted to turn east onto the service road, only to collide with an eastbound 2002 Lincoln.
It was not immediately clear when or where the minivan had been reported stolen.
