A Brooklyn man has been charged with driving while intoxicated Sunday morning in Lawrence, Nassau police said.

Terence M. Murdock, 40, of 415 Lafayette Ave., was charged under Leandra’s Law because an 11-year-old child was in his vehicle, police said.

A Fourth Precinct officer on patrol at about 1:45 a.m. saw a vehicle come to a sudden stop while leaving a Dunkin’ Donuts on Burnside Avenue.

A 38-year-old woman then got out of the vehicle and removed a 11-year-old girl, police said.

The officer approached vehicle to conduct an investigation and saw that Murdock appeared to be intoxicated, police added.

Murdock was released on his own recognizance at his arraignment at First District Court in Hempstead. He is scheduled to be back in court June 11.

Police said Murdock is related to the woman and child but no further details were immediately available.
