Suffolk police have charged a bus driver with leaving the scene of an accident after he collided with another vehicle Monday afternoon in West Babylon and fled, authorities said.

John Kneessy, 77, a driver with Suffolk County Rides for the Elderly, was operating a bus carrying nine passengers when the vehicle collided with a 2014 Jeep Cherokee just after 3 p.m. at Little East Neck and Midwood roads in West Babylon, Suffolk police said.

Kneessy left the scene and the driver of the Jeep and his passenger were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip to be treated for minor injuries, police said.

Kneessy will be arraigned on the charges in First District Court in Central Islip at a later date, police said. It was unclear whether Kneesy had retained an attorney and he could not be reached for comment.
