A 3-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries when her father, driving drunk, got into an accident in Great River, state troopers said.

Jose S. Barrera, 35, of Central Islip was charged with aggravated drunken driving under Leandra’s Law, which makes it a felony, even on first offense, to drive drunk with children 15 years or younger in the vehicle.

Troopers said they went to the scene on the Heckscher State Parkway at 2:16 p.m. Monday after a report of an accident in the eastbound lanes.

Barrera failed a field sobriety test and was arrested, troopers said. He was awaiting arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip, troopers said.

His daughter was treated for her injuries at Southside Hospital in Bay Shore and released to the custody of her mother, troopers said.
