Cops: Drunken driver gets car stuck on railroad tracks in Hamptons

An East Quogue woman was arrested after she drove drunk onto railroad tracks late Friday in Hampton Bays, police said.

Just before midnight, Gerry Andreassen, 60, turned her car west from Ponquogue Avenue onto the tracks and drove on them until her vehicle became stuck, Southampton Town Police said in a news release.

An investigation revealed she was operating her vehicle in an intoxicated condition, police said.

Andreassen was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor. She was arrested at the scene on Springville Road and taken to police headquarters to await Saturday morning arraignment, police said.

Police did not have attorney information for Andreassen. A message left at a phone number listed for her was not immediately returned Saturday morning.
