Cops: DWI arrest after pedestrian hit by Jeep in Coram

A Mastic man was charged with drunken driving after he struck and critically injured a pedestrian Sunday night on the shoulder of Old Town Road in Coram, Suffolk County police said.
The victim, Anthony Loiodici, 48, of Medford, was in critical condition at Stony Brook University Hospital after he was struck by a vehicle about 10:20 p.m., police said.
The driver, Robert Slawinski, 47, left the scene but called police about 11:20 p.m. and said he had hit something on Old Town Road about an hour earlier, police said.
Neither Slawinski nor a passenger in his 2010 Jeep Wrangler, Molly Toye, 31, of Oneonta, were injured, police said.
Slawinski was charged with driving while intoxicated and was released after posting bail of $100,000 bond Monday after arraignment in First District Court in Central Islip, police said.
