The group was walking north on Baldwin Road about 1:20 a.m. when a young man appeared from behind a house and fired several rounds, hitting the victim, 16, in the abdomen, police said.

The victim's friends carried her to the corner of East Marshall Street, where they called 911 about 1:20 a.m., police said.

The girl, who was not identified, was in serious condition Sunday at an undisclosed hospital, police said.

Police did not release a description of the suspect. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
