A Great Neck man faces assault and weapons charges after he hit another man in the head with a golf club at a Manorhaven house party, police said Tuesday.

The victim was hospitalized in serious condition following the dispute early Sunday on Edgewood Road, Nassau police said.

Jonathan Barrientos, 19, of 37 Spruce St., Apt. 7B, surrendered to Sixth Squad detectives on Monday and was charged with assault and possession of a dangerous weapon, police said. He was scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.

The altercation began at about 1:40 a.m. in the basement of the house before moving outside to the driveway, police said. Once outside, one man allegedly held down the 20-year-old victim as Barrientos struck him in the head with the golf club.

Both attackers then fled, police said. The man who held down the victim is still being sought, police said.

The victim was taken to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset where he was admitted in serious condition. Police did not have an update on his condition Tuesday.
